THE SOLAR SYSTEM
Land your mouse on a solar system object and click.
The pictures shown in these pages were taken with remarkable optical instruments. They reveal details and colors that you would not see looking at these objects though a backyard telescope. We are looking for pictures taken by amateur astronomers that will give you a clear representation of what you might expect to see at the eyepiece of a telescope. As they become available, we will link to those pictures from each page. This is not meant to discourage you from looking at the heavens with a telescope but rather to ensure that you are not misled or disappointed. While these are indeed incredible photographs, they can never replace the magic experienced when the light from an object so far away touches your eye and forms an image at the eyepiece.
