Around the same time
as the Chinese were making star maps, a portion of the famous Bayeaux
tapestry, depicts a highly stylized Halley's comet at the top which
appears to be pulling an aerial advertising sign. "These men wonder at the star." At right, King Harold II of England is being told of the bad omen, and he imagines the invasion ships at his feet that foreshadow his defeat.
